Castle Rock Planting Day

  • Castle Rock State Park 15435 Skyline Blvd Los Gatos, CA, 95033 United States (map)

Hello friends of AMLT,

AMLT has been hard at work designing an ethnobotanical garden for the new Robert C. Kirkwood entrance to Castle Rock State Park (map) in coordination with Sempervirens Fundand California Nativescapes. The garden, along with the entrance to the park, is set to open July 2018, but before this time we need your help with the initial planting at the site. Come join our Native Stewards and our partners at Sempervirens Fund Saturday and Sunday, March 24rd and 25th, for two fun days of tending the land and establishing our culturally significant native plants. Castle Rock lies within the Muwekma Ohlone territory and as such, they will be offering a morning prayer before the workday on Saturday.

Activities will be moderately strenuous and will include digging and planting on sloped/uneven terrain. Gardening tools will be provided, but please bring your own trowels and gloves if you have them. We do ask that you bring a bag lunch and enough water to last you the day. As always, please dress appropriately, closed-toed shoes and clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty.

If you plan to attend either of the gardening days, please RSVP by emailing Sara French at sreid@amahmutsun.org.
