AMLT Staff
Athena Hernandez, General Counsel (Tribal Member)
Why did you want to work for AMLT / why are you doing this work?
I wanted to work for AMLT because I wanted to feel a sense of connection to and passion for my job, day in and day out. I also wanted to contribute to a land trust that serves the public by directly advancing the protection, stewardship of, and education about my own tribe's cultural and natural resources. I am very grateful to be able to do this work.
What from your whole life's experiences are you bringing to this role?
I am an advocate through and through, and I always have been. I bring my strong advocacy skills to the role of General Counsel. I also bring my values of persistence, discipline, collaboration, and empathy to the General Counsel role.
Where are you from
I grew up in Mutsun ancestral territory, or what is modernly known as Hollister, CA. Since transferring to Saint Mary's College of California in 2013, I have lived in the Bay Area and have enjoyed my years here.
